Jim Tweedie Is Honored with
"Community Matters Award"



SIDNEY - Jim Tweedie was awarded the 6th annual Community Matters Award at the annual meeting of the Sidney united Way. This award is presented to an individual or organization that has provided significant input into our local United Way and the Sidney community.

Jim has served as executive director of the Sidney Boys and Girls Club for the past ten years. Dennis Porter, executive director of the United Way of Sidney stated, "Jim is a hard worker and is the driving force behind the success of Sidney Boys and Girls Club. Jim can always be counted on to help provide the direction and skills needed for the youth of our community and is ready and willing to provide new and quality programs for the youths in our area. He provides a site which is open to all of the kids in our community and serves a need that is not duplicated."

Jim's caring for others and his leadership of the Sidney Boys and Girls Club has earned him the 2009 Community Matters Award. Denise Miner, president, commented at the annual meeting that for the first time, this year's award is being presented to Jim Tweedie, a trusted and caring representative from one of our member agencies. "We believe your dedication, strong leadership and support for the youth of our community has established the Sidney Boys and Girls Club as a major asset to the Tri-Town community. We thank you for all of your efforts and congratulations on receiving this award. We salute the good work that Jim has done for the Boys and Girls Club of Sidney and our community and hope his civic work will continue to meet the needs of our community."
