Sidney United Way to Recognize
60 Years of Volunteering Oct. 29

SIDNEY - Please join the United Way of Sidney on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Sacred Heart Parish Center, 15 Liberty St., when we gather to thank past and present board members, our business supporters and the community at large.

The evening event will thank the many volunteers who for 60 years have given their time and talent to raise the funds necessary to support the agencies that serve the people of Sidney and surrounding area.

Throughout the years the volunteers and agencies have changed, but the message of caring has remained. In 2006 and again this year when flooding severely affected our community, the United Way of Sidney was one of the first groups to step forward to donate funds to support the much needed shelters. Proceeds from this dinner will be used for local flood relief.

Presently there are 15 member agencies who rely on our hard work and support to fulfill their mission to respond to the needs of the community.

The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by dinner and a short program. Tickets are available by contacting Carol Allen at the Chamber of Commerce/United Way office at 24 River St. (561-2642) or from past and present board members listed: JoAnn Passanti, NBT Bank; Debra Philpott, Sidney Federal Credit Union; Jeremy Matviak, Video Entertainment Plus or Dennis Porter, 563-2725.

All community members are welcome and encouraged to come share in the United Way of Sidney's thank you and kickoff to 2012.
