Sidney United Way Backs Booster Books Program

Donation

SIDNEY - The United Way of Sidney is again sponsoring the annual Booster Books preschool literacy program administered through the Sidney Memorial Public Library.

Here, Sidney United Way Director and Secretary Carol Allen, center, presents a check from United Way in support of the Booster Books program to incoming director Beth Paine, right, as Erin Collins, youth services librarian, looks on.

The program is open to children in the Sidney School District ages 3 and 4. Each child receives a free book in the mail every other month throughout the school year, along with a newsletter with tips to encourage reading in the home and help parents prepare their child to enter kindergarten.

Parents can register their child for the program by stopping at the library or clicking on the "Kids and Teens" tab at sidneylibrary.org and downloading the Booster Books application form.

This is just one of the many programs and services United Way of Sidney helps facilitate with donations made through its annual campaign. Support efforts in the community by sending donations to United Way of Sidney, PO Box 14, Sidney,N.Y., 13838.
